Projected Improve in Automobile Manufacturing to Drive the Metal Stampings, Forgings, and Castings Industry, According to New Report by International Sector Analysts, Inc.

San Jose, California (PRWEB) November 13, 2014

Follow us on LinkedIn – Metal stamping, forging and castings are essential manufacturing processes that are crucial to the production of a range of manufactured components and completed goods. Metal stamping aids in transforming metals, normally flat metal sheets into desired shapes at ambient temperature by pressing, shearing, bending, folding and stretching. Forging, on the other hand, represents a procedure where compressive forces are applied on pre-formed metal blocks, normally heated to higher temperature, to generate higher-strength parts for a variety of durable goods. Casting is a metal modification method that makes use of molten metal injected or poured into a custom mold exactly where it solidifies and types a molded item. Manufacturing plants related to heavy industrial machinery, automobiles, and household appliances, among other people, are heavy users of metal stamping, forgings and casting technologies.

Growth in the market place is influenced largely by the demand for manufactured tough goods such as automobiles, computers, and building gear, among other people. This is due to the fact any increase in demand for manufactured durable goods warrants their enhanced production, involving processes such as metal stamping, forging and castings. Automotive business represents a prominent finish-use market place with development supported by the projected rise in demand for automobiles and automobile components and components. Aluminum castings are particularly poised to benefit, offered the developing use of light-weight aluminum parts in automobile interior and exteriors. Projected rise in demand for and production of heavy industrial machinery against the backdrop of improving construction, mining and oil &amp gas activity is also expected to drive development in the market place. Increasing investments in renewable power infrastructure and the ensuing improvement of clean power infrastructure will spur demand for metal stamping, forging and castings in the manufacture of collecting towers, solar panels/photovoltaic cells, and turbines.

China Manufacturing Activity Drives the Global Castings Market

San Jose, California (PRWEB) August 05, 2014

Follow us on LinkedIn – Casting represents a metal modification process in manufacturing where a molten metal is injected or poured into custom molds to get desired shapes, after solidification. While casting can also involve use of plaster, plastic resin or concrete as material, it is most often associated with use of metal as molten material. Given its role in the production of a range of semi-finished and finished goods, including machine tools, equipment, artifacts, jewelry, weapons, and host of parts used in automobiles/aircraft/locomotive and electronic applications, metal casting is of critical importance to the manufacturing sector. Growth in the industrial castings market is directly dependent on the health of the industrial and manufacturing sectors and level of production/manufacturing activity, which in turn is dictated by the overall health of economy, level of consumer spending on a range of goods, and credit availability, among others.

With metal substrates being omnipresent in the world of mechanical engineering, industrial castings find widespread applications in diverse industries across the globe. Since castings also play a major role in production of parts used in industrial/manufacturing machinery, investment in capital assets in industries such as automotive, construction, oil & gas, processing, and mining, also dictates growth prospects in the market. Automotive industry represents one of the major end-use sectors for industrial castings with cars and light trucks increasingly being assembled with a range of metal cast parts and components. Steady increase in automotive production as a result of increase in demand for passenger cars, particularly in developing markets such as China and India will fuel demand for a range of automotive parts and components, production of which will need industrial castings. Modernization and upgradation of assembly line machinery and equipment in automotive plants will also create demand for industrial castings. Increase in the number of vehicle miles traveled, parallel increase in the wear and tear of auto-parts and subsequent rise in replacement demand and production of aftermarket automotive parts will also help drive opportunities for growth. Light metal cast parts are expected to continue to replace iron castings in automotive applications.

As stated by the new market research report on Industrial Castings, Asia-Pacific represents the largest market worldwide. The Middle East ranks as the fastest growing market with a CAGR of 6.6% over the analysis period led by robust manufacturing and construction activity. Ferrous Castings represents the largest product market. Non-Ferrous Castings is projected to witness steady growth led by growing demand for lightweight aluminum castings in automotive and other transportation applications.

Major players in market include Alcoa Inc., Avalon Precision Metalsmiths, AvioCast Inc., Bradken Limited, Doncasters PLC, Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction Co. Ltd., Esco Corporation, Georg Fischer Ltd., GIW Industries, Great Lakes Castings LLC, Intercast & Forge Pty. An impact driver is a tool that delivers a strong, sudden rotational and downward force. In conjunction with toughened screwdriver bits and socket sets, they are often used by mechanics to loosen larger screws (bolts) and nuts that are corrosively “frozen” or over-torqued. The direction can also be reversed for situations where screws have to be tightened with torque greater than what a screwdriver can reasonably provide.

A manual impact driver with screwdriver bits and adapters

Manual impact drivers consist of a heavy outer sleeve that surrounds an inner core that is splined to it. The spline is curved so that when the user strikes the outer sleeve with a hammer, its downward force works on the spline to produce turning force on the core and any socket or work bit attached to it. The tool translates the heavy rotational inertia of the sleeve to the lighter core to generate large amounts of torque. At the same time, the striking blow from the hammer forces the impact driver down into the screw reducing or eliminating cam out. This attribute is most beneficial for Philips screws which normally cam out as part of their design. It is less beneficial for flat head, also known as common, screws and is not beneficial at all for most other types.

Cordless motorized impact driver, battery, charger, and some bits

Another type of impact driver uses a motor to automatically deliver the downward and rotational forces. These have the advantage of greatly increased speed. They are most often used in construction and manufacturing to replace screwdrivers where speed and operator fatigue are an issue. In some situations however, this type falls short since current designs cannot deliver the heavy downward blow of a manual unit. This can be especially true on very stubborn fasteners.

These are not to be confused with the impact wrench, which is a motorized tool (usually powered by compressed air), with a similar name and function. These also use a hammering action to apply torque to fasteners. The difference is that impact wrenches do not provide the positive engagement that impact drivers offer as mentioned above. This is desirable though on hex head fasteners and others where the downward seating action is unnecessary and potentially damaging. To add to the confusion, they look identical to motorized impact drivers.

Buyers must also be aware that some tools improperly advertised as impact drivers are actually just impact wrenches. The only way to verify that a motorized impact driver is truly what it claims to be (without taking it apart) is to try it before purchasing.
